What do you do when your best friend (AL) wants his 1994 2dr Cutlass Supreme to go faster (besides decking/porting the heads and putting ported 3400 upper and lower intake on the 3100) and you have suddenly acquired a 90 Olds Toronado Trofeo (for free)? I'll tell you:
You fire up your plasma cutter remove the engine/tranz/subframe and front strut buckets from the Trofeo then you proceed to remove the harness and ECM/BCM etc. from it also (LOTS of "useless" gismo'* on the Trofeos)
Then you take the Cutlass gut it and tube cage the back half of the car while removing everything (not required) with PLASMA cutter (one of my best investments).
To make it short, weld in the front strut buckets from the Trofeo in the (old) rear strut position and build outriggers from the cage to bolt the front Trofeo subframe into the rear of the cutlass......
most of it is in the first part of the post but we have a whole photo album/scrapbook on the various stages of work/wireing diagrams (plus the custom wiring diagram i had to draw up for the rear efi setup plus the Vats eliminator (radioshack!) )
the whole rear firewall is partially done but needles to say when it'* all done it will look like a HUGE subwoofer box (complete with fake subs)
here are more pics
stage 1
after the rear cage and the front subframe of the toro were bolted into the rear (gastank wired in so we can drive it-daily driver! LOL)
just before the install-after a full going over and all new gaskets and porting mods/ backcut valves etc.
before we dropped the car over the engine/subframe-you can see right through the wheelwells!
crappy pic of the RR wheelwell with the toro engine in her (new struts, brakes, calipers etc.)
earlier pic of the trunkview (you can see the fuel cell/Aeromotive pump-before the wire harnes was installed)
new shot of the drivers rear
the twin shifters (independant they are now modified to sit side by side-we want some hurst dragster pistol grip ones-real narrow and since it'* a modern 442 it'* gotta be hurst!)
early pic of the dash with the gauges for the rear engine/rear engine tach etc-will be different cause we need electric sending gauges...
the new(later model) roller rocker 3100 heads that are going full bore and backcut valves (we have been playing with modifying diferent types of roller rockers for the 3800 looks like i will be modifying the heads (3800) for BBC alum roller rockers
thats about all of my pc loaded pics fer now
but heres' one of one of MY toys
my 73 chevy Nova redneck/lowbuck dragcar
and the engine that will be going into her soon (hopefully! lol)
and some of the new parts for the 400 sbc
