1997 SSE Recently Purchased
Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I recently purchased this 1997 SSE. It had a few previous owners. The last returned it to the car dealership she'd purchased it from after the radiator had gone. Unfortunately for her, She drove it there with no coolant circulating and ruined the engine. A mechanic from the dealership bought it from her. He replaced the engine with an 85K mile 3.8 out of another 97 Bonneville. He also replaced a number of other things (radiator, motor mounts, water pump, belts, etc.). I bought it to drive daily short distances, it seems to be a good car so far. It has 111K on the body.
I think these are good looking cars and I hope the 3.8 will be reliable.

Thanks. It was pretty dirty on the outside. It needed a good cleaning and wax. I got it for $1600.

Yes heated up. When a vehicle is driven without coolant it tends to warp heads, the intake etc. This is not good.

Nice looking Bonne. Loving the heavy tint. The 3.8 is one of the most reliable engines made. (If ya keep oil and coolant in them) Many members here have taken them 250K miles and over. I sent an Olds with a 3.8 to the wrecking yard still purring with 217K. Salt ate the rest of the car away. I use a bra as well for road trips. $7000 is alot of paintjob to get chips in it. I turn mine inside out and power wash it ocassionally and let it dry well.

1600 isnt bad at all. I have a full car bra for my other car I own. Like said above it only goes on for road trips and car shows as I think they look sweet. Make sure anytime the car is washed the bra comes off so dirt doesnt go under there.
