If you'd like to save a good chunk of money on that Walbro, check out TRE performance for the pump. High flow w/o the high price.

Walbro is the only pump that will fit in a 1st gen w-body as far as I know. There are others like racetronix and TRE Performance as you mentioned, but those are all 2nd gen pumps and won't fit a 1st gen w-body.

Your car is awesome! I like how nicely carpeted that back seat area is. And I also like the lack of carpeting on the sub box. Really. It'* very pragmatic of you. Do you take out the sub box when you want to go race?

Its funny, a lot of guys on w-body didn't like the trunk and back seats, haha. These are all more practical for me than anything. I'm more form over function, plus I simply haven't had time to carpet the sub. That lack of back seat was critical to allowing me to move from Chicago to LA and back last year. You'd be surprised how much you can fit in the back of a car without those!

Yeah, I take that box out. I have another sealed 12" and sealed 10" sub that I swap in from time to time when I need to use the trunk or want to shave off some weight.

Part of it is that it was my first sub box, and I would have done it differently looking back. If you look at the lower right, the MDF for the front panel sticks out a bit. It doesn't make a difference since there'* bracing inside, but its still annoying. The sub itself has two tears in the foam surround during shipment that were repaired (very effectively) using electric tape and silicone sealant. Still pounds extremely hard.

I'm glad you like it though. I love it. Its a lot of fun, and I've had it since it had 61k miles on it, my first car. Odometer now reads 224k.

Got some updates for this car.

I discovered that the EGR hose was leaking and the throttle body gasket was leaking after taking that video. I got all that taken care of, installed the high flow walbro 255lph fuel pump, and the car finally started to run right.

I sourced a 5 speed transmission, Getrag 282. I will be picking it up likely next week on Saturday. Once that'* done, I'll need only the clutch kit and it will go in the car.

Got a lot of progress done with the tune though. LTFTs are within 1% of 0 at all fuel trim levels, which means the MAF is calibrated nearly perfectly. O2 voltage is right at 940 under WOT/PE, which is exactly where I want it. I copied over the 2005 GTP spark tables and modified those for fuel economy and power under WOT. Today I was able to consistently hit 18 degrees of spark advance under WOT with NO KR!!!

To give you an idea of how significant this is, a stock GTP is programmed for 11-13 degress of spark advance at WOT, and many stock L67s have some KR from the factory. I have seen a stock L67 with a 3.8" pulley and a solid tune outperform a stock L67 with a 3.5" pulley and a tune that required the owner to retard timing to prevent KR. Simply put, if you get a smaller pulley on there and have to retard timing to keep from getting knock, you're negating the increased performance of that pulley drop. I've successfully dropped that pulley and increased spark advance a considerable amount over stock, and I still have no idea where my ceiling is for WOT spark advance.

With the new spark tables adjusted, I have trouble keeping traction on damp pavement at 65mph in 1st gear. On dry pavement, 1st gear is useless and I can spin the tires in 2nd from a 35-40mph roll.
