Tuned up 97' SLE
Tuned it up, seems a bit quicker to me. I'm wondering if cat, fwi, and PCM will make the differences I want it to. I'd like to be up to par with a stock SSEi, think that will happen with those mods? I don't want to dump money into this car, when I could sell it, and just buy a decent ssei for probably under 3k.
There'* another video in that folder that I'm not going to post and won't be there long. I was going about 95 trying to get a 0-100 vid, and I saw a small dip in the road. It got bigger, and bigger, and bigger, until it turned into a hill. I knocked my head off the roof and all you hear at the end of the video is a CRUNCH LOL. They just re-paved the road, and it makes no sense why there'* a new hill, because I've been down that road faster than I was going then and it was completely smooth. I'm confident it didn't damage the under carriage, but it snuck up on me so I had no time to embrace, plus I wanted both hands on the wheel incase something wanted to happen, I wouldn't land in a random farmer'* field. They didn't like when that happened in the Grand Marquis during the snow. I held a drift/fishtail for .7miles one way. On the way back, the drift didn't hold so well and I had a pair of headlights turn on in the middle of the field and start coming towards me. I never knew that thing cut through snow so well... apparently better than whatever the set of headlights were because it disappeared.
Good news? Ever since I did that hill hop... I'm not hearing the clunking/knocking noise in the front end anymore. Great... probably broke it, but at least I'll know what it is when it falls off lol.
Here'* the original run:

She seems a little off IMO. I understand that you have a stock setup and mine is not realy stock but close. We have almost the same car except I have a vacc. controlled trans and a CAI that gets very cold air.

Not really for a comparison...
But watching your Vid really makes me thing my trans is weaksauce... Just look how easy I get to 4k on the take off... Compare that to yours..
Also keep in mind that the Stock 97 Puter will force you to shift at 5750 1-2..... The Stock Chip in the 95 will let it shift 1-2 at 5950....

Yeah, you're pushing a little bit more power too. Probably not enough to push the tach 2k further on launch though. I really want to port my LIM... but I've been hearing of all these people losing the lowers in their motors after porting it. Then I'd have to deal with the warranty company and explain I didn't touch the motor lol.
EDIT: Then again... hmm... I wonder how much an L67 and matching trans (4T80?) would be to throw in there. Hmmmm.... lol. Somebody pass the mod bug spray...

I think at this point the only thing keeping me from roasting the trans is the Monster RV trans cooler I have...
When its cold the car will take off nice and strong.... Once it warms up it takes a few revs to get there.. On the Highway I have went WOT only to miss 2nd gear a couple of times... So I know the trans is getting tired..
I can remember when I used to be able to roast Goodyears
At the time I had a Ported Lower Manifold, PEM'* and High flow cat... After the trip to CT and back to FL... I finally started to wear out a wrist pin.. 161k... Can't complain... Then I craped the low mileage motor, spun rod bearing.. This motor is doing good..
Right now it has the Ported lower, Intense Fender well... High flow cat... It may get the PLOG and Ported Rear manifold put back on it as I am gaining trust in the motor...
Have you thought of an Intense PCM to unlock a little more potential?

Yep.. it'* in the 'to be done' list in the signature lol. Right now I have a box I'm trying to fill with parts before I do it all in December. It includes right now a Flowmaster 80 crossflow muffler, Felpro 2nd Design LIM gasket, Thermostat Housing Gasket (for the 180*), and a dogbone mount. To be put in there before December (work time) will be an APN UIM kit, some non-coolant, Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil + filter, INTENSE 180* t-stat, and a magnaflow Hi-flow bolt-on cat. After that comes the Intense PCM and FWI
I may start a thread asking how many people trashed their lowers by porting their LIM, and see if I can figure out why it happened and how to avoid it. Because... I REALLY, REALLY, REALLLLYY want to do it lol. You don't understand the strength I need to keep the dremel away from that LIM :P lol.

Well thats just it, on my stock 95 Motor I never did trash the bottom end.. Always had great oil pressure too... No issues there.. But the Rod has a Bushing for the wristpin, and its this bushing that has worn out on mine.... I pulled the motor as not to do any long term harm, or destroy the motor...
The Second motor had issues from the word go... I am luck I made it as far as I did..
The 3rd Motor came from a 96 Bonneville with low mileage and an original upper that had not ruptured.... So this engine never saw any foreign elements in the crankcase... It runs very well... I am almost at the point were I want to install all of the Mods onto it... And build the other motor later...
But I also have a Complete trans rebuild kit and the shift kit to go in it when I do the rebuild... This way I can get the power to the ground
We have had several guys that did the lower, and killed the bottom end.... Its one of those things, you have to pay to play... I also think I will invest in an Intense Oil pressure kit as well...

Maybe you could sum up somewhere what problems you still have, and how serious you think they are .

Only problems as of right now is that strange clunk in the front end is back, and tc I think shudders between 45-60 with tc locked. Other than that, she'* a-ok lol.
