Go-kart Racing (56k Warning)
Hey, I'm not really sure if this belongs here, but I wondered if anyone else here was a go-kart racer? Here'* a few of our racing pics...
And here'* pics of the Quarter Midgets I raced for 7 years before go-karts
This is the one I raced for my last two years
I raced this one for 4 years before that
And this was my first one

I love it! Friends of mine have a dirt track in their backyard and races every Sunday during the summer. There'* even a "night race" for the 4th of July. There'* anywhere from 10-15 racers each week...some come over from Canada even.
I don't race there....but I did get the Most Agressive Driver award last summer at our mini-meet in Ontario (ONBF 07) Of course, those karts are slow and crappy compared to the real ones.
Great hobby!

he claims the hardcore carts can go from 0-100 and back to 0 in less than 10 seconds
I like the safety cage carts. A good friend of mine lost a son in a cart without a cage that ran into the back of a truck by accident.

I was a little worried about getting into go-karts after all the years racing Quarter Midgets due to the lack of a roll cage, but in our first year, we only saw one cart get in the air, and the driver was just a little scratched up. They really dont roll over as much as you would think due to how wide they are.

Paul,
go-karts go pretty fast, this(i think) is a 125cc shifter kart, with a little taller gears it would hit 100mph faster than your car, as it is it would hit 60 or 70 faster than you.
