Default Just added another Pontiac to the family!!!!

I just got a 1985 Pontiac Firebird with a 5.0L V8 and a 4 barrel carb! I pick it up on Thursday the way it looks now. I hope I know what I just got myself into.... The car is off the road when I went to look at it tonight and I couldn't drive it. It originally had a 2.8 V6 that somebody swapped out with the 5.0L V8.

I wouldn't have bought it if it had the TPI. I was specifically looking for something carborated. Seems easier to tinker around with.

Anybody know how I can tell what year the 305 in the car is or how to find out more info on the engine in general? Also, if they swapped out the 305 in place of the original 2.8, could the transmission be the same?

No, trans is different bellhousing. The 2.8 used a 60* bellhousing, while the small blocks used a 90* pattern
