Default Testing negative battery cable

This test will determine if you negative battery cable is good or not.

You will need a multimeter and someone to help you.

First thing you will need to do is pull the fuse for your fuel pump. This should be located on your maxifuse panel under the hood on the fire wall. This will prevent the engine from starting.

Now set your mutlimeter to the lowest DC setting and place the negative lead on the bolt for the battery. Not on the cable, the bolt. Or the post if this is a top post battery.

Then find a good ground on the engine and place the other lead there.

Now have your helper crank over the engine. You should get a reading of 0.1vDC If you have 0.2vdc or higher you have a corroded terminal. Clean both ends of the cable and reattach with dielectric grease and retest. If you still have a reading of 0.2vDC or higher, replace the negative battery cable.

Put fuel pump fuse back.
