I've done a search on this problem, i.e., code 1361, and come up with fixes... replace the ignition control module, replace the ECM (don't forget to swap the original chip into the replacement ECM, done that too), make sure the ground buss is grounded well.. I've done all that. The code will still pop up and the car will idle and run rough. I'm using EFI Live Version 4 with my laptop and it clears the code and the car will run fine--until I turn it off and leave it for a while. When I start it back up, there'* the P1361 again. I ohmed the coil packs and they ohm good... I know that ohming good doesn't necessarily mean good coil packs... The new ECM is reman, the ignition control module is not an AC Delco... but they're what I could get off the shelf. There was a corroded contact in the ground buss. I had to jump a wire around it (soldered one end to the buss bar, the other to the wire with the corroded contact) because I couldn't get in there to clean the contact. How do you get those things out? Anyway, before that fix I got some resistance through the corroded terminal and now there isn't any so I guess it worked. Except it didn't fix the problem. Any suggestions?

Shouldn't I be able to do continuity tests on the wiring harness? I looked at the one on the thread that you suggested--it didn't look very long. Where does it plug into?

The harness runs between the ICM, cam & crank sensors & one of the leads plugs into the wiring harness to the PCM. There'* also a ground wire that connects under the ICM mounting bracket.

I'd do a continuity test, measure the resistance of each wire & check for shorts to all the other wires in the harness. I'd also consider making a test light with a 12 volt light bulb. A higher wattage bulb like a brake light.works well. Connect the light bulb in series with the battery & each wire in the harness. This makes sure each wire can carry a load. Also remove the conduit & throughly clean & inspect all the wires & terminals.

Resolved. After checking out the harness, I got to thinking. If replacing the ICM didn't help, then replacing the computer didn't help, maybe one of the two NEW units (the ICM or the computer) was bad. I started by putting the old ICM back in. That'* all it took. No more code. The computer was the bad part, not the ICM. I took the new ICM back to Autozone and they refunded my money without complaint. Thanks for the advice.
