Series II L67/ 6 speed manual conversion (Work resumes! 5-5)
Ladies and Gentleman, F14 has returned. I've mentioned this project before, but this time, it'* real. I'm pushing forward with this.
My '89 Reatta, which previously had the supercharged LN3 I made, is going to receive a Series II L67 and the fairly new 6 speed manual from a G6 GT/GTP with the 3900. If you would like me to make a separate thread here to make things simpler, tell me, though for now the bulk of the info and pix is going to be here
http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.ph...e/1#Post433568
at the Reatta.net/AACA message board.
Thanks guys.
And BTW, automatics suck. Nothing against anyone here, but I like shifting my own gears.

I wish i had time to mess around with my car as much as some people here, but i work 80-86 hours a week, so its hard to find time to sleep, let alone work on my car.

Looking at your other thread you mention finding a 90k l67 for about 1k. Why don't you see if you can get something from Ed Morad? I would think you could get something cheaper then 1k & with less miles. Any major plans for the l67 like a cam ?
I agree on mixing up the gears myself but I'm lazy sometimes so I'll deal with less control of a auto.

Ryan suggested porting of my heads, */c housing, 3'' exhaust, and underdrive pulley to break 300 hp, all of which I'm going with

I'm not very sure if the 3" exhaust is a good idea. You might gain some up top but you will lose so much low end torque. The P&P heads and */C sound good but those mods alone are not enough to warrant 3" exhaust with out major loss of torque.

If you want 3" exhaust you'll want a cam and headers, and since you mentioned a P&P'd supercharger you might be able to drop to a 3" pulley. You MUST scan for KR though. What kind of underdrive pulley are you talking about? Generally they're not a huge performance item. Mid-low 13 second cars seem to be the starting point of benefiting from full 3" exhaust.

Ported heads and SC are not enough alone to warrant a 3" exhaust. Being able to flow is different than actually flowing. There'* only 3 or 4 cars on our top 25 list that flow enough for 3" exhaust.
