Default 3800 series 2 engine swap

My granfather has a 97 Bonneville with a blown 3800 Series 2 motor in it. He offered it to me if i took out the engine and transmission for him (new heads and new transmission for his new bonneville) ....the bonneville has new shocks, struts

I have a 92 OldsMobile EightyEight with a 3800 (Tuned port injected) motor in it... the engine runs great and the transmission is good also...car needs new shocks..needs new struts...needs breakpads (bought the car 2 months ago for $400)

from what i can see visually looking at it...the cars have almost everything in common...the body look on the bonneville is slighly different and the series 2 motor is set up al little different...but based of the same design...the motot mounts i can see line up...exaust seems like it would bolt right up...

**My Question is...will the 3800 Series 2 motor swap out for a 3800 (Tuned Port Injection) motor

Theres a good possiblilty it will go more smoothly since theres already a previous generation 3.8 in there.
Check out www.l67swap.com there is some great swap write ups on there.

im sure its DO-ABLE, but why would you want to do a silly thing like that??? I think it will be much more hassle than it would be worse

I am hoping for a easy swap...take the motor and transmission out of the junk car..into the better car....i know its like 200hp to 170 ...but if it can be easily done it should cost less..i dont really have the money to put into the car...but i have time to work on it and room to do it... and 2 unused unregistered car

and also...my grandfather want the engine+transmission for parts...so i dont have that to work with

you will have a mess of wires to play with, not to mention your going from OBDII to OBDI

Ok..let'* clear some confusion. Currently I'm in the middle of the Randman Frankenbonne project.

To swap different years like that you'll nearly need to change out the whole wiring harness. If you search on "formerly and 97" and "frankenbonne" you'll start to understand the differences.

Subframe in the car for motor mounts is proabably also different.....engine harness connectors are probably different.

There'* a lot. I'm not saying don't hit it...but expect a LOT of differences that you'll have to work around.
