So my speaker blew today because apparently my new headunit is too powerful for my stock speakers.. lol oh well it's just all the more reason to go aftermarket with speakers.
Anyways.. I have a few questions about buying aftermarket speakers since I can't really afford new 6x9's and new component speakers and an amp to power them at the moment. So what I was wondering is if I should just get the 6x9's and component speakers since I can afford to buy both of those (alpine type-s (also any opinions on these speakers?) ). But the speakers will only be getting 22 watts rms from my headunit. How would this sound?
Or should I just get new component speakers since the speaker that blew was the one in front on the passenger side and try and find an amp that only costs about $150 max that has two channels and about a 100 watts per channel (the speakers are rated at 85 or 80 watts rms @ 4 ohms). But if I did this wouldn't my comp. speakers overpower my 6x9's? and end up making my system sound bad until i get another amp and the aftermarket 6x9s.
I also just had another thought.. Do the watts and the power from the amp add up? and if they do couldn't I buy
CS60.2 - JBL 2 Ch 120 Watt Full Range Amplifier and be able to fully power them?
Alpine Comp. Speakers:
Alpine - Type-S 6-1/2" 2-Way Car Component Speaker System - SPS-600C
Alpine 6x9's:
Alpine - Type-S 6" x 9" 3-Way Coaxial Car Speakers with Poly-Mica Cones (Pair) - SPS-609
I of course won't be buying from Best Buy so I don't need anyone telling me where to buy speakers. lol
Also this may sound like a dumb question.. But can that amp use the preamp outputs on my headunit? (can all amps use them?)
