Thumbs up Badges of recognition

A few weeks ago I mentioned something about members getting little badges for different things. Venom has made it so moderators have a gearhead badge as well at the moderator badge. How many of these can there be? My thought is this. There are some members that are very helpful and providing great information. I was thinking it would be nice to give these members something like a contributer badge to show there contributions are recognized.

Another thought would be a bit more exclusive. Members that run their cars at the strip and post an official time slip can get a badge stating which club they are in. 14s, 13s, 12s and so on. Is it possible for the system to then list those members with these badges for all to see? Have them in order of fastest down. This should encourage competition as well as racing at the track where it belongs. Me, I'm pushing for that 12s badge this year.

Badges?....We don't need no stinking badges!... (Name that movie!).

I like the idea. I think the 'fathers' of the forum should be the ones to collectively make the determination on who is worthy.

Giving out badges in on an individual basis isnt possible. The Forum format is geared for usergroups. And I really dont want to start splitting usergroups into sub user groups. This is also why you share Barney purple with Boosty. But dont we already have this system in place to an extent? People that contribute to the mechanical sections frequently and give good advice become gearheads. And those who show themselves to be level headed and "goodsports" become Moderators as the need arises. And this usergroup will grow linearly with regular posting membership. The Time brackets badges would be cool, but would have to go into the sig area. As mention we are pretty limited with what we can do the "avatar".section on an individual basis. If someone wants to design the E.T. badges and PM them to me, I can put them at the bottom of each persons sig area. "niceguy" paid for staff badges, (thanks Rick) and I dont want to burden him futher. The site isnt self sufficient yet. He's been great with how far he's contributed already. I hear decals are around the corner and I cant even get him to "sell" them. They will be on a "donation basis" so when they come, lets dig in and send him a nice one. Rick is first class and we should show our appreciation for hosting this e-home for our Bonnevilles we all use and care for alot.

Well, the people with "Site Donator" staus will be getting them gratis. That designation/benefits cost $35.

I was out hauling wood into the furnace room and thinking about this Dan. And ya know, we already have a series of recognitions in place. First after a certain post count you go from junior member to senior member, as well as you go through the preset counts, the forum automatically resets your "posts like a ......." I mean how far do we take it? Till lights and bells and whistles go off like you hit the 3 way jackpot like a Vegas One Armed Bandit. Perhaps we could revamp the "Posts like a system" it really wasnt made to involve the post counts seen by long term members. but I dont feel inclined to take the avatar section any further than it is. It is already longer than the average post. Soon it will take a whole page just to show each one.

Not a problem. The only thing is I think the ET badges need to be controlled or they have no meaning. If I have a 12s badge it's because I earned it. Not because I was able to link to a image. I don't know how it can be controlled in the SIG area.

It would be controlled by Staff just as any part of the sig is. I have CP control over sigs and avatars. I can and do edit sigs for size and questionable content already. That really isnt an issue.

I completely forgot about the 'donor' button and stepping up. You reminded and I have contributed as of a few seconds ago.
