Angry Stuck Inner CV Axle (driverside)

never had this much trouble with an axle before...1995 Pontiac Bonneville...notice a bunch grease in wheel weel area..check brake sline and no leak..i figured it has to be from the axle.. went to start job and found where the whole was in the boot...was jus goone replace the boot but saw that one of the bearing was shot...remove this axle with no problem..went and got the new axle..parts department stated theres two different size for the driver side...couldnt figure out the size since i no longer hav the spare tire cover...so we decided to match them as good as possible...get back home to start job..axle went in fine in trans and bearing..went to install ball joint and this joker will not seat as if the axle has no more room to go in housing..i started to remove the axle but the housing will not come out of trans, did everything i did for the old one to remove it but it will not come out...

1. can this be the wrong axle?
2. how can i remove this axle housing from trans?

any suggestion?

If the shaft went into the trans easily, then it should come out just as easy as it went in. Thing is though, that clip at the end was probably not as rounded as the original. You need to use some persuasion to remove it. As in, mother of all daddy'* pry bar'*.

You don't need the spare tire cover. The parts store should have asked you if you were naturally aspirated or supercharged. The supercharged engines have a different size shaft(beefier).

ive been @ IT SINCE 10am WITH PRYBAR...they did ask..told them it was none SC but he still stated theres @ different gear ratios for the drivers side...

Last I knew, the splined parts are all the same size, its the shaft diameter thats different. But either way, they will both fit in the trans.

i never heard of it either...the guy was saying that one is just about a 1/4 in. longer.....im kinda think that may be the problem...cause when i went to in stall ball joint..it lines up the whole but cant push back on axle any futher for the ball joint to seat fully..im just stuck on removing the new housing from tranny..its giving me hell..and ive already damaged the new axle bearings..just trying to return it ..

You have to "pop" the driveshaft out.

Push the driveshaft in as far in as possible (estiminated 1/16") then with a prybar between the trans and driveshaft CV housing, give it a good tug.

They make a knock-out hammer adapter to do this removal job.

If you have the circlip snug (pulled out as far as it will go) you will never get it out.

Well unfortunately the joint never came out. Sunt the car to trans specialist after a $100 a hour, they couldn't even get it out...so was forced to get anothed trans + axle...wheel alignment..they installed the trans. After pulling off from pickn it up drove fine...got home jus to check everthing and I here my exhaust pootn...checked the wires and everything no miss fire no where...looked uder the car at trans and I can see it ahakin a little..

My questionn is can the torque be in stalled wrong or not sitting correct? Should I use the old torque converter that was already there?

We're they able to remove the axcel once they got the tranny out? Also just curious how much was the new tranny I think I might need one.
