Default Transmission Input Seal

Hey, anyone replacing a tranny, do yourself a favor and replace the seal on the input shaft even if you don't think its bad. I am doing the whole job over again because the bearing on the old torque converter came apart and wrecked the oil seal. It was like that when I put it in(used tranny) but I didn't look at it close enough. Oh well, I can pull the engine and trans. really fast now! I know exactly how it all goes together.

Whenever you replace a tranny with a used one, should replace that seal, the two axle seals, fill tube seal(if it has a fill tube), should drain the torque converter and fill it with new fluid, and should also do a transmission service(change fluid, filter and gasket, if necessary)......

Smile transmission seal

That'* good advice. I would do all that if I was keeping the car but as long as its not broke or leaking I'm not replacing extra stuff. Its easy to replace an axle seal without a lot of trouble, so I'm not sticking someone else with a huge problem. I just wanted to share my experience because I'm sure there'* people doing this kind of repair that can't afford to pay someone to do it. Its a pain in the a** if ya gotta use the vehicle and it'* broke down.
