Default trailer wiring ?

I've got a 2005 Bonneville. Would like to add trailer wiring. I see some adapters the you need to run a power wire for and the old tried and true adapter that does not require a power wire. Is there any reason I need the adapter with the power wire?

Thanks for any help.

Only if the trailer you are towing has built in power brakes. Otherwise, a simple 5 wire will be just fine.

I did some checking and did not find a "plug and play" connector for the 2005 Bonneville, checked with vendors like Curt Manufacturing. Looks like you may have to splice in the trailer wiring.
