No Start -01 Aztek
Hey all, new here, This is my first post
Im running into a head buster.
I have an 01 aztek FWD that whe just did an entire engine and transmission swap on. got it all bolted back together and had a buddy working with me on it. I had him hooking up the wires for the alternator and starter and battery etc etc. well it turns out that he mistook the fuse box power cable for a ground and attached it to the front clip right where the batter ground is attached and then when he went to hook up the battery positive obviously there was a big old spark and he jumped etc etc. I cant blame him for mixing it up because it was sheathed in a black cover but any who. we got it all sorted out and continued to put it all back together, we finally got to the point of putting the front wheels on and then turning the key but when i was putting the front wheels one i noticed that they were turning free, but the tranny was in park, the tranny is pretty well empty so i figured that it needed fluid and the engine running or what ever it needs to engage the parking pin. however when i hopped in and go to start the car i get all the dash lights and stuff but i cant shift it out of park, i get a no crank condition, lose all power when i try to crank and weirdly it tells me my rear hatch is ajar... which i know is not but it wont let me release it to re hatch it... like the button doesn't work.
Is it possible that i fried the BCM/PCM? I checked all the fuses and they are good I thought it may have been the neutral safety switch but i disconnected and played with the shift linkage but no change

you have to go through things and see what you dont have. really hard to say out of the infinite possibilities over the internet. i guess i would start by going on both sides of all the fuses with a meter and making sure all are good, just because a fuse looks good doesnt mean it is as well doesnt mean the wire that feeds it is good

Thanks A lot! after using the diagrams on the fuse box and the wire Diagram you posted we were able to trace back and test every the the Park Neutral safety switch and it turns out that when my buddy put the shift linkage in he didn't adjust it accordingly. So Park on the car side corresponded with reverse on the transmission, obviously disallowing it to start. Which also makes sense why you cant open the rear hatch because it locks it out if the transmission isn't in park.
