Oil in intake, stalling when starting, and poor idle
Hey guys Just like the topic says, my old mans 2004 grand prix GT again, I am at a loss on this one, the 2 plugs I pulled looked good, the pcv valve was replaced and that didn't help, the coolant level is fine (this car has an aluminum intake so no intake failure here) and when you shut it off after running it for a minute it smells like gas.
What is it? I could really use some Bville help on this one.
Thanks allot,
Chris

No service light. On the Series III it has drive by wire and some type of auto start, when you turn the key, it isn't as if you are turing the starter, like cranking the motor you turn the key and it more or less turns a switch on to start the motor. Well the motor starts and idles at 400-500 rpms for a few seconds then it gradually revs up to maybe a 1000 but after a few more seconds, it will idle down to 500 again, even cold, and I notice on the back side of the throttle body that there is oil on it, like enough to sip it off with your fingers, and very dirty for haveing only 50K on it. Whats more, it feels like there is a loss of power. I have checked all the coils and the plugs are ok too. there is also no loss of coolant. Maybe a dirty IAC or something, I am unfamiliar with the drive by wire system, or even the series II, my bonnie was the series I.
Hope this helps you help me

Ok.. to clear some things up. Drive by wire is still a normal motor.
Us non S3 guys don't get out and crank the engine like the Model T'* either. It'* basically the same.
Can you snap a pic of where the oil is sitting. I'm thinking possible valve cover gasket. On the slowness/hesitation, what flavor fuel does it require?
Seems like you are on the right track for the idle.

I'd check fuel pressure and vacuum too since those aren't monitored systems. You'll only get a ses light for the problems they cause - like a too rich condition.
