Well, the car is registered, inspected, and everything looks good for the price I paid. There are a lot of minor issues that I may need help with, but that'* why I'm still here. Let'* tackle these one at a time.

Firstly, the fans. Speeds 1-4 are totally dead, but 5 works just fine. I'm guessing that'* the blower motor resistor or a bad low speed relay. Where do they hide the big relays on the W-bodies?

Also, even with the fan on full speed, I don't notice much airflow at all. Maybe I just didn't push the bezel on all the way after putting in my stereo. Does the GP have a cabin air filter to get clogged?

going by my 03 monte which i would assume is the same, the fans had alot of issues with the resistor i had to do my moms impala and that, pretty cheap but increadibly agrevating to get to. i tore the pass seat out and stood on my head but its still tight.

cabin filter is under the plastic cowl whenyou open the hood, you have to peel the seal back and take the pass side apart. i think most if not all relays were under the hood in the center by the battery

All fuses are good. I found the relays, but they're really stuck in there. You just pull them straight out, right; no clips like the Bonneville'*?

As for the resistor, is it behind the glove box or something?

While we're on the subject, the airflow is fine, but it'* mostly coming out of the windshield vents, regardless of where I tell it to go. What would cause that?

the resistor is by the squirrel fan. on my moms you could see scorched components. the relays come strait out but i wouldnt mess with them the sockets sometimes get loose. i had a intermittent start i had to track down that was the cause. the vents i think were still controlled by vacuum so like the older car could be a vacuum leak in the tube or switch panel

Air directed only to the defroster and fan only on high is the default mode when the HVAC control head has failed. You may have to replace the control head.

I have the manual HVAC controls, if that helps. Do I still have that control head?

Also, is there a vacuum line controlling the air mixer on this car?

Well well, what have we here? This may explain a lot.

This vacuum line runs from the manifold, down around the strut tower, and disappears somewhere along the battery. This is going to be a pain to replace whole; is there a reliable way to patch a vacuum line?

i dont know where it goes but im guessing inside the car for the heater control, if it stops somewhere you could replace it with rubber. if not so easy, they have a repair barbed fittings at the part store for plastic lines, i had to do it to the primary fuel feed on my 03. had to get some hot water in a coffee cup and stick each plastic end in it for a while then put the barb fitting in. when i was done no clamps or anything and didnt leak the while rest of the time i had the car
