Not sure with this one because the 98 has the L82 and the 2002 has the LG8. Some upgrades were done to it, but what to the block I don't know.

The 2002 version of this engine has a bit higher compression ratio, a different intake manifold, and a bunch of parts changes that increase commonality with the 3.4 . That'* what I can find on it. If I were spitballing I'd say it'* 90% the same, then I'd warn that the other 10% could cause prohibitive amounts of work. Overall I guess it depends on your situation, how badly you want to do this, and your skills and resources.
