intermittem no spark
2002 grandprix 3.1 l
the car will be running fine then the engine will stall. I bought a spark tester and when the car stall there is no spark. I will wait for a while and the car will have spark and it will start and run fine for sometimes 2 days. I have change the ignition control modual, the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor. My son told me that the traction control light is acting up does the traction control have anything to do with this car just not having spark randomly.need help .going crazy.

The crank sensor is the main reason why you wont have spark. The cam sensor might, but most of the time it'* not a issue. If those are good then check the ignition wiring harness. I had mine short out every now and then and that would kill the engine. The wire moved and was touching the harmonic balancer. The ICM could be a issue when it gets hot. With the traction control acting up it kind of sounds like you have a frayed wire shorting out.

Just now my son called me and said he was driving up a hill to his mothers houseon a dry road and even though the wheels didnot spin the traction control light came on and the engine stalled.since i changed the icm ,crankshaft position sensor, and the camshaft position sensor.it make me believe the car not having spark it has something to do with the traction control system because when the traction control is working properly and the tires spin it some how makes the engine start kinda missing so the engine stops reving.how or what do i change or do to fix the traction control.

Traction control is actually a torque management system.IIRC it does this by pulling timing when it senses wheel spin.So it is very possible that you trac control has something to do with it

i think its like dan said, the wiring could be shorting, maybe on a hill its at the right angle to short out more and the wheel sensors might be on the same power circuit thats the cause. i would start looking over the harnesses.

Unplug a wheel speed sensor and that will disable traction control and see if the problem reoccurs. Initially I was thinging PCM or ground but I'm not sure what runs the traction control.

If you have to replace a wheel speed sensor, you have to replace the entire hub/bearing assembly.
