Default 99G.P-G.T so im cleaning out throttle body today

((99 grand prix gt)) im takein the throttle body off today and cleaning it out! but i had a couple questions:

1) how do you recomend cleaning around the turbulance screen in the throttle body?

2) i also want to clean ALL the sensors in the TB off? do i use mass air flow sensor or am i just supposed to get a new set of sensors?

3) do i need to replance ANY gaskets when putting the TB back on?

4) do i have to wait untill the cleaner dries to start engine? or is CRC TB cleaner safe?

Seems like every time i turn my car on my gas level is down 1 notch no matter how far i drive..1 mile two miles and so on... got spark plugs replaced but not wires and fuel filter. maybe its one of these sensors, coolant or UIM leak?

basically im diagnosein a misfire and bad fuel economy.

  1. If you have a pair of tiny snap ring pliers, you can take the MAF screen out. But if you can't, don't worry.
  2. You should remove the IAC and MAF. The IAC can be cleaned with regular carb cleaner. The MAF does require MAF sensor cleaner. As for the TPS, that doesn't get dirty, but remove it just to be safe. No sensors need to be replaced unless they're malfunctioning.
  3. You will need a new throttle body gasket, and if you remove the IAC, a new O-ring for that.
  4. I would wait for it to dry before reassembling. Carb cleaner is combustible, but it seems like it evaporates fairly quickly.

TPS is external and sealed. You honstly don't have any reason to remove it.

I prefer to leave the maf screen in after bruising a few. I block the throttle open, pull the iac to clean it and start with and a toothbrush with TB cleaner from the back gets it shiney. then a quick spray of maf cleaner through the screen and there'* no need to take it out.
