Could be a wiring issues, or a bad PPS module. What vehicle? Have you checked for TSB'*?

When you sit in the passenger seat, without the seat belt buckled, does the seat belt warning indicator come on?

Unless you have a Tech II, and schematics, and trouble tree, there is not much you can do, outside of a visual inspection.......

Do the connectors from the seat sensor look clean and tight?

I agree with 2kg4u.....could be a wiring problem....when you sit in the seat, a harness could flex and make contact(if broken inside the insulation), and the contact is lost when nothing is flexing the cushion.....and unfortunately, it could be the sensor in the cushion, also.....

Only two problems I ever had with the passenger presence system, was a wet seat cushion(some guy cleaned the interior real good), and the other was people adding a cushion to the seat, where the sensor wouldn't "sense" them.....
