Default Engine Sensor?? I need help

I have a 1976 Pontiac sunbird and my car won't start because of this little sensor thing and the left side of the engine by the spark plugs is broken off. I need help to know what it is and where i can get a replacement.

The only thing I can think of would be the oil pressure switch, which looks like it may fit the bill.

More Information for AIRTEX / WELLS 1S6920

But would that make the engine not start because the terminal on the sensor thing leads to the ignition box.

I am not familiar with those cars, but it'* not inconceivable for GM to design it so that the ignition kills if the oil pressure drops. It'* something I would appreciate.

The list of other things it could be on that car would be relatively short. If you pull the sensor out, crank the engine a bit, and have oil everywhere, than you could almost bet money on it. Given that you can likely get it at a local parts chain for $15 (they may need to special order it, or order it from Rockauto) it'* a relatively cheap part to throw at it.

Only other thing I can think of would be a coolant temperature switch.
