Hello, I just purchased this car few days ago and engine ran like a beauty. No noise or anything. A day later I did notice low oil pressure. 60psi at cold, but at around 20psi hot on idle.
I read that it could just be a bad sender unit so I ignored it for a few days.

Yesterday I decided to see what the engine was made of and drove in excess of 90+mph on freeway for about 10-15minutes.

When I exited and hit a stop light the oil pressure gauge ding sound went off because it was on red mark. I was able to park it.

I got back on the freeway few hours later and drove normal speeds, but this time when I exited and hit a stop light the oil pressure gauge dinged and engine stalled.

I was able to turn the car back on few minutes later and drive home. (I had to keep pressure on accelerator on stop lights or the oil pressure gauge would dip to red again and stall my engine)

So this morning I test drove it and I notice a new noise coming from engine. When I would accelerate I can hear a ticking/knock from engine. The higher the RPM the louder the noise. On idle I can still hear a slight tick very low though.


Is this the end of the car engine? if it is I just got heavily ripped off. :/

Is it possible to put heavier oil to bandaid the problem? Thinking 10-40.

I also notice the oil level is way past full line. Is this a big problem?

The bottom end bearings are done. I'd be talking to the seller, w/o mentiioning your speed run.

If the oil level is past the full line, sounds like coolant in the oil. It ate your lower end bearings. Been der, dun dat!

Can you post a pic of the bottom side of your oil cap?

What am I suppose to ask the seller? Can I have my money back? Car is registered to me now and I guess he is just a good scammer.

Coolant level at reservoir has been the same since I bought it. And radiator is always full.

I will jack up the car now and take pictures.


Is it possible to use thicker oil will it help at all. Atleast to bandaid the problem.

I guess he mentioned nothing about a warranty correct? If so, you have been scammed.

More than likely, he knew something was wrong, didn't want to pay to have it fixed. At a shop, yes, this is EXPENSIVE. If you know your way around a tool box, and a junkyard, you could save the car for about $4-600.

Otherwise, you have no legal recourse without a written warranty. Unless you have witnesses willing to testify that he did talk about a warranty.

No milky crap under oil cap. Looks clean.

The oil level is normal, smells normal, looks clean.

I jacked up the car and looked under and had slight oil leak where the oil filter is at.(Oil filter was just replaced 3/27/12

I thoroughly checked this time where the knock is coming from and when I hit over 1500+ RPM the knock seems to be coming from upper part of engine. I'm not 100% though hard to tell.
