02 GT 250km'* Just Bought.. Issues...
Greetings, Was looking for a Grand Prix Forum, This was the first one i found.
Please forgive me if these Issues have been covered.
So, Bought a 2002 GP GT coupe, $500 didn't seem like a bad deal, 250,000km'* (Canada Eh!).
Been driving the car for about 3 weeks, Today the Low Coolant Lamp on the dash came on, Stopped the car Took a look under the hood, Seen abit of what i assume is Coolant Splashed around the Alternator & Under hood fuse panel. Nothing major like a spray, Just some Drops more like. Would this be a sign of Impending Intake Gasket leak? Also Light seems somewhat intermittent. Coolant level appears to be Normal level.
If the intake Gasket is leaking, Will it Normally Leak into the Engine or can/will it leak outside. ?
2nd, Had the Tranny Flushed after i bought the car, But Seems to Shift Somewhat Rough, (up-shiifting) .. Then sometimes is seems to be smooth as butter. ?
That'* all for now..
Thanks in advance..
Richard

if the coolant is full and the light still comes on you probably need a coolant level sensor. i had to put one in my bonnie.
as far as the leaks i would clean everything up and start over so you know better where it coming from, lots of places to leak and the belt can fling it all over.
gaskets can leak either way or both ways.
dont know about the trans. is this the */c engine?

First, the coolant is likely leaking from the coolant elbow just in front of the alternator. Not a real hard fix.
As for the trans, this is likely a sticking shift accumulator. Again, a easy fix. This write up explains how to make and install a shift kit in your transmission. Part of doing that is cleaning up the shift accumulator. Over time the cylinder walls get smooth and start to stick. This causes a harsh shift. Scuff it up a little bit with some 400 grit sand paper or finer and it will shift fine again. https://www.gmforum.com/performance-137/making-installing-shift-kit-4t65-hd-transmission-278802/
