2001 Grand prix 3800 Cranks No Start
Fuel pressure is 48lb, Took wire off each coil pack one by one testing for fire. I can get the spark to jump from coil pack to a screw driver that is grounded to the motor, about 1 inch to 1.5inch. The farther away I move from coils the spark become brighter and sharper. I have pulled dipstick. Oil shows no sign of coolant.
I have a code reader and have no codes. The only thing next I can think of is to pull plugs and check for compression. I am thinking possible time chain jumped time or blown head gasket (But again no sign of coolant in water). Motor has 185k, so if it is timing chain what will compression read? Or will compression be radically different on each cylinder?
Thanks, All help Is very much appreciated.
P.*. If more info is needed I will accommodate as much as possible

Stick a 194 bulb with the tabs pulled out into one of the injector connectors. Do you see flashing? I'm thinking you have pressure at the rail, you have spark, but you probably blew an injector fuse.
Been there..got a piggy back ride over that fuse.

If injectors are working, pull the plugs, are the wet with fuel. If so, floor it, hold it there, and crank. That will clear it. But like Bill said, check injectors, could be a fuse.

Checked fuse this morning, you were right. It was blown. Put new fuse in. It popped immediately. I will have to do some wire tracing to locate the short. Is there a more common place where this happens in the wire loom? Or could it be just a random location?
I sure do appreciate it, makes me feel a that the problem is diagnosed. Now just have to locate it. Thanks again.

Start with unplugging all the injectors, then see if you still have a short. You can then start checking each wire. Once you find the shorted wire then it'* trace it back. Look around for obvious pinch points where the wire harness mave have gotten pinched.

OK, good, you have a shorted injector. Go to the techinfo area on the main page here. Go to testing and you will find some tests for injectors. Once you find the bad injectors it'* not to hard to change it out.

Using ohm meter I have a reading of 13.1 ohms, not K or M on every one. I have auto-detecting ohm meter. I plugged all connectors back in one at a time turning the key on and off for each connector, while watching for fuse to blow. Fuse didn't blow. Car does start and run now. Could of it been possible loose connection between connector and injector, maybe causing an arc between the contacts. I have wiggled wires on the wiring harness while car was running and wiggled wires on injectors. I can not seem to get it to duplicate it again. I appreciate your help. I will go drive for a bit and if it happens again I will at least know where to start troubleshooting. Your much needed help and input has been very much appreciated, And I thank you very much.

Very odd. Perhaps take each plug off and inspect them, might be a loose wire or something. Hope it don't leave you stranded, personally I would feel better finding the problem and fixing it.

Yeah, me too. I very much need it to duplicate them so I can go to testing again. I will just keep wiggling around and see if i can get the fuse to pop. Or drive up and down the block, that way I am close to home. (neighbors might think I am crazy but Oh well. LMAO) I will let you know if I can this to duplicate again, and we can go from there.
