Flex plate interchange for '65 Bonneville?
Hello all!
I'm working on a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville with a 389 from a '64 Catalina. I've confirmed the '64 is a later block and it has the bolt holes for a starter, which is great, because the Bonneville'* original TH400 transmission needs a block mounted starter. Also, my research says the '64 block has the later BOP bolt pattern, so the '65 TH400 should bolt right up. So far, so good. I've also read I need a flex plate and a starter for a '65 to make it all work but what is the interchange on that? There has to be a wide range of years/cars that would use the same part, right? Any suggestions or should I trust the parts stores to get me the right one?
Thanks and what a great site!

Sounds like quite a project ... pictures would be great. Although we have a couple of members who specialize in vintage GM'*, I suspect the direction you would get from the parts stores would be the best way to go. If they give you the wrong part, worst that happens is you return it and get the right one.
