Default Supercharger generations

How can you tell by looking at an m90 supercharger what generation it is? I have one from a park avenue but I don't know what year it was. It is slightly different than the one on my Bonne.

The M90 Gen 3 was found on GM cars from 97-08. The only cars to get a Gen V M90 ws the Grand Prix from 04-08. All other cars got the Gen 3 M90.

Best ways to tell the Gen 3 from the Gen V is the
Gen 3 has a painted snout the Gen V does not.
Gen 3 has a bolt boss in the top center of it to hold the fuel rail, Gen V does not
Gen 3 has a 3 bolt setup for the TB, Gen V is a 4 bolt setup.
Gen 3 snout is longer than a Gen V

Now..on the Gen 3 there were changes made to it, but the generation was never changed.
96 the charger body was painted, later years it was not
96-97 there was a vacuum tree near the throttle body on the charger. 98+ there was no tree.

From what you said Bill, the supercharger you gave me is a "mutt"?

Snout is painted, body is not.
I have no vacuum tree. (wish there was)

Awesome thank you. The bottom end of the motor didn't change right? Will any of the generations work on any series 2 motor?

Mike..I believe I gave you the very normal 98+ aka the one off my 2000 regal or one off a 99 GTP

Teh Gen V has a slightly different LIM opening than the Gen 3 so it won't just fit. You need to open the LIM hole about 3/4" toward the passenger side of the car and then it fits and uses a couple of longer bolts. Then you need a TB adapter as well.
