Default car sputtering/missing

ok i wasnt sure if i should post this in the thread i made the other day or not so i just made a new one, so heres the story...the original problem that i was having was that the car seemed to be quite sluggish off a start, the first thing i did was replaced the fuel filter, this seemed to work temporarily (or so i thought, could be wrong because it might have only acted up after the car warmed up) so i did a little driving but it eventually started coming back, at this point i decided to leave it alone as i thought maybe it would take a little time, the next day i filled up with gas(85 as this is what my parents who gave me the car always put in it, i know this needs to change and i was planning to start 91 this next time i fill up) after driving the car for awhile after filling it, it started sputtering at about 3/4 of throttle. sense the sputtering started i have found that it only does it after the car warms up, with that said, i have checked the spark plugs(these were already replaced a few months ago) checked the wires(replaced the same time as the plugs) i have also tested the STOCK coils, on those i came up with 5.20'* area i think, and they were consistent with each other, but then i also read a thread about the sparks coming off red was bad? i was getting red sparks so i replaced the coils, the car ran fine for about less than 5 minutes and after it warmed up it started again, so i tested the new coils and came up with 5.07 on the 1&4 coil, the 5&2 and 3&6 coils read a very close 5.20 area(is that enough difference to consider that theres a problem with them?) also there is no ses light at all, and again the car runs fine until it warms up.

i am trying to get it into the shop to get it diagnosed but there booked at the time so im just trying to get more advice on what it may be and some other things i can test

any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks

Dan which sensor is the one that reads air temp readings?

I'm thinking that this could be the problem...cars runs fine cold but when it warms up the sensor isn't reading right so it'* making the car run sluggish

have your car scanned when this happens..hopefully it'* not running lean. all though if its the sensor that i'm thinking of..it would make your car run lean.

That would be the IAT Intake Air Temp.

thanks dan that should deffenently help.

also ive got another question, with the sensors, if any of them are picking up a problem would they trigger the SES light or do some of them not? thats one thing that ive been needing to know so i can maybe eliminate some possibilities. because the SES has not been on this whole time.

thanks a lot

A sensor will give a SES if they fail. But many don't fail, they get tired and start giving odd signals. Such at a ECT, or IAT Both read temp and can give false readings. But even though the readings are incorrect, it'* still giving a reading. Unless that reading is way off.

No. What color is the smoke? Does it have a sweet smell?

well its not smoking at all, i had a similar problem with my car before but it was running way worse and it was smoking blue, found out something rubbed the protection off a wire going into the pcm and caused a short or something, thats why i was asking, because its not smoking this time

Smoke from the exhaust will come from oil, blue, or coolant, white.
