Default 92/94

Just out of curiosity, what are the differances between a 92 ssei and a 1994 ssei. The 94'* make 20 extra hp. Is that because of the bigger throtle body and supercharger? Or are there other modifications that were done, like cpu programing? If it'* due to the supercharger, than couldn't a 92 ssei put on the supercharger from a 94 along with the TB and gain an extra 20hp right there? and 15lbs of tq? And is there even a big noticable differance between a 1992 and a 1994, like if you lined both of them up and raced? Which one would win stock? Just was just thinking about this.

From what I understand, the supercharger is more efficient in 94/95.

It doesn't move more air, just spins slower to deliver the same boost. The 92 also had a slightly less-improved valvetrain than the 93-95, and yes, a smaller TB (slightly) than the 94/95.

I would assume some different PCM programming, as well.

Exhaust is identical from 92-95, with the exception of the dreaded resonator in the 94/95.

Another difference is the switch from OBD I to OBD II wiring & ECU modifications. Plus if I remember right, the Transaxle utilized a different "Final Drive" ratio too. I believe GM pre-set the ECUs with different "Default Settings" in them too.

Slightly smaller TB? 58mm vs 70mm, that'* over 20% bigger!!

I believe roller rocker system was used in 94. No? Something with the valvetrain.

Already got the valvtrain differences 92 is the only year without roller fulcrums on the rockers.

The TB'* aren't 58-70mm. My 93 SSEi has a 77mm bore, with an 81mm outer diameter. Jseabert'* 93 SSE is identical.

The original question asked the difference between a 92 and 94 SSEi. The exhausts between all SSEi/SSE from 92-94 (and the 95 SSEi) are all identical. All the SSEi'* had the same final drive ratio in those years, too.
