Some ppl complain that MagnaFlow is more raspy then the "smoother" Flowmaster, BonneAlien is experiencing difficulites with his "very raspy Flowmaster" in fact he needs a glasspack now to deaden some noise. My MagnaFlows are anything but raspy, its a very smooth low end rumble sound, but...mine is true dual and powered by a V8.
In my Bonneville, I had a MagnaFlow as well, and it was not raspy...so, it all depends on who you ask.
Bill posted some numbers on HP counts based on types of performace mufflers and Magnaflow came out on top as an added 4 to 5 HP increase. I'm feeling a LOT more power in mine, only because my exhaust was VERY restrictive, I opened it up from the Y-split to the muffler, maintained consistant diameter now and leads to 2 Magnaflow mufflers....much better....

I never called the Maggie'* raspy, i think they are a rougher sound, and i'm looking for a smoother sound, but still low, and LOUD. Magnaflow and flowmaster aren't too different, but dynomax is a whole 'nother beast.
