WORKING ON ROLLER ROCKERS FOR THE SERIES 1
ok, here is what im doing, im working with a tech from comp cams, trying to figure out which rockers will fit our motors. the only thing is, you have to adjust the rockers yourself and install screw in studs where the bolts go.
but i do need some info. please help.
i need the measurement of these 2 rockers.
series 2 rocker from the center of the fulcrum to the center of the pushrod hole and from the center of the fulcrum to the valve contact point.
and the same on a LS1 rocker.
i need these to be as accurate as possible to the .000 of and inch.
they make higher ratio rockers up to 1.85:1. this will increase our valve lift plus ad a few more degrees of duration, meanning more power and defintly more top end , which is where we need it to be.
but i do need some info. please help.

have you tried contacting ZZP or intense? They have done alot of work on the valvetrain. If you strike out here, try clubGP. More members=better chance of someone having this info.

Let us know what works, i'm sure you'll keep us posted, but i'm very interested in engine mods, and response/etc mods. I love zingy engines, they make cars VERY enjoyable. Now only if I had a manual....
I know springs are a good thing to get with rockers, will series II springs fit?

no they wont, series 2 valves are metric. small block chevy valve srings , retainers, and locks are a direct fit for our series 1 motors.

ok guys , here is what i have come up with. i mic'ed a 93 rocker tonight and called comp cams for some info.
the rocker from the trunion to the valve contact area at rest is 1.400"and from the center of the trunion to the center of the push rod hole is .900", , this gives us an actual 1.56:1 ratio.
the tech at comp cams pulled a few rockers to see if something would work.. the position from the center of the trunion to the valve has to stay the same. what changes as far as ratio'* go is the distance from the center of the trunion to the center of the pushrod.
so. a LS1 wont work because the distance is 1.430"
but.............. a same block chevy rocker is 1.400" from the center of the trunion to the center of the roller on their roller rockers.and on the 1.8:1 ratio rockers, the distance from the center of the trunion to the center of the pushrod hole is .780". this is defintly do-able
here are the little snags to it. the rocker on a 93-95 width is1.555" and their hi tech stainless rockers are 1.613" wide. with only a 1/8" gap between the rockers now, its gonna be a tight fit. if they do touch, which i thing they wont, the inside of the trunion bar may need to be filed a little. but i honestly dont think this will be a problem at all. after doing the math, we should have .067" gap between the rockers. i know on the 92, we have 3/8" bolts that hold the rockers down and a steel guide plate under them. im just gonna use screw in studs that are 3/8" bottom and 7/16" top. the 93-95 are 5/16" bolts that hold them down. they sell a stud for olds that are 5/16" bottom and 3/8" top, but the 1.8 rockers are 7/16" . im not sure if ARP sells studs that are 5/16" bottom and 7/16" tops or not. but it is worth checking in to.
as far as mine goes. im going to get a set of comp cams HI TECH stainless rockers in 1.8 ratio along with studs and pushrods too. this will take my lift from .400" to .450". that should give me some more breathing room, i hope lol. plus , it adds a few degrees of duration to the valves too, keeping them open about 4-5 degrees longer than they do now, which is a little more air into the cyl.
i hope this helped some of us series 1 owners that are left in the dark with aftermarket parts.
