What scantools does everyone use....
Hey all. I know it'* been a while since I have been on here but I was just curious as to what scantools everyone was running. I was wondering if there'* one that will fit on my laptop. I have an old thinkpad that I run Turbo link on for my GN. I am looking for something similar On the other hand I might just say f**k it and invest in a tech 2. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Actron cp9150 kit. It does basics on OBDI and II, plus has all of the cables and power access supplies ya need. That'* because the extended family has an OBDI Ford, OBDI Chrysler, my wheels are the hybrid application OBDI and II, and I'm looking for a 97-99 Bonneville DD for Toolgirl. So it'* more multipurpose.
If I had an OBDII car, and was interested in performance tuning.... that Autotap with a PDA seems like it would be a Killer App. I'm not there yet.
OT comment because I don't want to drive thread off of topic but.... over to general chat for an opinion as to why you should have a scantool when you are looking to buy a car.

I have used the actron scanner, and its good for checking codes and thats about it. Then I Upgaded to an LS1m w/palm. These little things are great, from codes to tuning!
Now al I use is a DHP powrtuner-I dont think any explaination will do it justice.
I have used an a-tap, in my opinion its not the easiest to understand. But does have more parameter than any of the others I've used.

No I'm not kidding. I do like ALL the transmission parameters it displays, that I could understand. But after using an LS1m for a few years it was confusing reading the a-tap.
The LS1M was and is the easiest to use, understand, and operate. But doesnt have ANY transmission params. And cant read clear tanny codes.
The PWRTNR is fairly easy aslo and it converts easy also. Guess its just my personal preferece, but I really didnt like tuning with the a-tap.
Hope that clears up my experience with them.
