Default Woohoo! Found a performance jem in a local salvage yard

My brother stopped at a salvage yard near home today to get a hood for his Chrysler New Yorker, and he said when he was pulling the hood he noticed a GTP sitting next to the New Yorker with the good hood. He noticed it was a fresh car there because it was pretty much complete. So he popped the hood, and low and behold a L67 engine with the following mods:

Thrasher CAI
Modular pulley setup
headers
MSD 10mm wires
DHP PCM
Magnaflow mufflers
Rockers (he said he couldn't really tell if they were different than stock, but when we pulled my oil filler cap on my SSE he said they were definitely different).

I am going to the place tomorrow right after I get off of work (early) and I'm going to get as much of the goods as I can and see if I can find a name and address of the former owner in the car so I can call them and ask about rockers, cam, PCM programming (so I can sell it knowing what all is required for using this PCM in a 1997 GTP), etc.

Hmm, might just skip Rock Falls Saturday (Just kidding -I don't want to miss Saturday) to swap headers, rockers, CAI, and anything else that might swap.
Looks like the SSE is going to progress ALOT faster than I thought.
Already the car is definitely noticably faster as I stripped the trunk absolutely bare, complete back seat, floor mats, rear dash, and headrests from the front seats just this evening (took all of 45 minutes). Also did the ELC trick and went out for some practice launches on fresh pavement. Definitely a different launching procedure is required.

Im not ripping on you, but how much weight is lost when you strip all of that stuff from your car? It has to be noticeable, right?

I not sure on the exact weight loss, but I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 200-225. I will be weighing everything before I put it all back together so we can have it in techinfo or as a sticky for the racers here. Having removed everything from the front seats back puts much less stress on the rear struts, allowing for even less compression of them, and the handling of the car has drastically improved (feels like the rear wheels turn for even better turning). Pretty crazy how when I moved the steering wheel the slightest the car will really respond and the back end follows with very little body roll. Now I need to get some good front struts as it lifts way up when I chomp on it and the back barely budges and then when I let off the front end just drops about 4-5 inches.

The rule of thumb is 1 tenth off your et for every 100lb dropped.

Good find on the parts use them to your advantage. Take a picture of the rockers and I can probably help on that aspect.

I've also heard every 10 lbs lost is the equal to one hp gained.

Sounds like you got a good find on your hands. I would probably just rip the entire engine out and see what else might be hidden in there.

Kudos to your brother for poping that hood! My own brother would have walked right by.

Good luck with the future moods and the pending race night. Your weight reduction might give more than just the .2sec mentioned if it allows for a better launch? I cant wait for your post race review and good luck

Would you be willing to get some of the other mods off that car? I would buy the headers off you, and the MPS if you can take them off.

Well, some MNCGP guys were there before me (I got there at 1PM) beat me to the headers, MPS, PCM tray, DHP PCM, front seats, MSD 10MM wires, Air filter, and who knows what else. All I was able to get my hands on was the Thrasher CA box which had the bottom plexiglass broken so I will have to re-glue it together.
I will be going back on Monday to pull the rockers (for myself).
