Default OBDII conversion - troubleshooting time

Spin-off from this topic http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...247&highlight=

I decided to keep the topics separate as this one actually involves the conversion instead of just talking about it

Anyways, I have most, if not all, of the necessary components to do the conversion. Here is the list of items I had to beg, plead, trade, or flat out pillaged for. Keep in mind that this list may or may not be complete.

1996 or 1997 PCM (as they can control the 4t60e)

Same year PCM harness

1993 SSE firewall connector (to graft onto the new style harness for power, ground, sensor, and data. This allows to keep the original harness intact)

1994-1995 EGR assembly. This includes the pedestal.

1996-up S2 L67 MAP sensor array (optional. I wanted to keep my boost gauge, and running 2 MAPs will allow that, as the OBDII setup uses a MAP for boost reference). This also has the EVAP switching valve.

PCM tray and cover

OBD2 connector

S2 L67 temp sensor (not sure on this one yet. Pretty sure though)

1992(?)-1995 neural safety switch harness ends (they are different than what the OBDII harness has)

4-wire O2 sensor (depending on what I want, I may get a second one).

Keep in mind that I will have the PCM reflashed to mimic S1 tables. I will also have to repin the trans connector to work with the older configuration (and somehow graft a trans fluid temp sensor without opening up the trans). I also have alot of cross-breeding of harnesses to do.

Here is my work so far:

Overall shot of the engine. Looks pretty stock so far.

MAP sensor array installed

My next project is to start on the crossbreeding of the harnesses. God help me there

This intrigues me a lot. I have a 95 and cant find anything as far as a PCM tuner goes. I have plans to turbocharge my bonnie in the near future and need to be able to tune the PCM. But I am very limited with the OBD1.5 IMine has the OBD2 connector already. I would suspect that mine may be even easier to convert then?

I think my 95 actually has 2 knock sensors on it.

Yes, they did. I forgot to mention that, since my engine was originally an L27 and I left the knock sensor on the front bank in place (L67s had them in the back).

The OBD2 connector you have will need to be repinned. The protocol is completely different. But yes, it should be easier to convert a 94/95 because of the dual knock sensors and the linear egr.

That crossed my mind. I actually have the correct internal harness for the trans, temp sensor included. The only problem I see though, is that is more for a pressure gauge than a temp gauge. Meaning the fluid circulation isn't all that great up there. I am thinking about putting the sensor at the fluid exhaust line. That should give me a pretty accurate reading, provided I can find a way to put that sensor there

I was wondering if you could convert to ODB2. Ima have to see how this works out. That aeroforce is tempting

I've talked to several members on here that seem to think that this idea should work, provided all the wiring is checked and double-checked. The Aeroforce addition would be great, but I am looking more for tuneability. This conversion should allow that, but the biggest obstacle would be making the tables from scratch. That'* gonna take alot of research.
