Default GTP' supercharger Louder than SSEI'*??

Has anyone else noticed that when comparing blower noise when you jump on it the GTP seems to whine alot louder than a SSEI modded the same? I removed my underhood liner, and I have had a cone filter on, (before I gutted and modified the stock airbox), but my car is still not as loud as my friend'* GTP?

Could it be a simple acoustics thing? I assume you mean inside the car? Could also be sound deadening inside the cabin or sound insulation.

That'* what I thought, but the hood insulation coming off made no difference, Actually I meant outside of the car, like when we are at the track and can hear eachother make a pass,

Ahh...ok, I will still chalk it up to some kind of acoustics as the sound waves leave the engine bay, also the Doppler effect might be a factor as well (the 'ol passing sirens).

I guess it depends who is in first

Also, I just occured to me, Bill Wren posted a thread with some video footage of him booting around town at some insane speeds you should watch the vids, you can really hear his SC whine...kinda cool, good comparo too. The thread is called "Whine Envy? (now with video). It should be in Performance somewhere....check it out

2 reasons I can think of:

1: Smaller car less metal to muffle the sound.

2: Different tuning of the */C

In theory the superchargers would sound the same on both cars since it is identical drivetrain, but I will have to agree there is definately a sound difference. It is probably the difference in exhausts and airboxes that make the whine different. I would bet that if you put an airbox, 3.4 Pulley, and headers on both the SSEi and GTP that they would sound very similar.

I'll buy smaller engine bay and different stock airbox, but the SC'* are identical, unless they have an aftermarket pulley.

I'm with dbtk2. If both cars were set up identically, they'd probably sound almost identical.
