have any of you owned woth a 87-91 bonneville and a 92-98 or have known the speed difference in the two. Im 17 and have a 89 SSE with only 165HP The ssei'* have 240HP How much of a difference is there? Since my dads A8L hsa 340HP and is 6.5 seconds, im guessing that my 89 bonneville is in the 9-10 seconds range?

I think you are about right. The A8L is a lot heavier than your 89. The 92-93 SSEi has 205, and 94-95 has 225, then 96+ got 240, just so you know. And times range from maybe high 6 to low 8.

It depends on a lot. Gearing is a big one. A 92-94 Series 1 with 170 hp will go 0-60 in 8.5-10 seconds. 10 *. with the 2.84 gearing and 8.5 with the 3.06 gearing. The only Bonneville that could keep up with you're dad'* A8 is the 96'-99' SSEi. They do 0-60 in about 6.7 sec stock.

wow i didnt know that the HP of older SSEi'* were 205 and 225. Having a 96 240Horse SSEi must really be fast. I guess that the old 87-91'* were just for smooth cruising with cool gadgets in the car. One thing for sure is that the interior of a bonneville is better most all my friends cars such as a 95 camry - which is mostly all plastic and crappy interior, 96 buick century- what a piece, my friend wont even upgrade his factory AM FM stereo, not even a tape player is in that thing!

You're leaving out a prime factor. The biggest part of the 0-60 is getting off the line. You're overlooking the torque numbers in your comparisons.

My 87'* got the 2.73 and feels pretty quick to me. Of course i havn't compared it to anything but it can still run pretty good times.
