ya'll may want to go on over to club GP and watch the debate on the STS system. Some of it is bashing and some of it is legitimate questioning. My point of this post is that one should consider all angles. Also check the LS1 threads too. It may turn out to be a viable option for our cars. I am concerned about the mufler at inspection time issue.

A really interesting con to the system that was brought up that we had never even dreamed about was the ease of which the turbo could be stolen. We are considering this angle although I'm not quite sure what we can do about it at this point.
I guess someone could steal your tailpipe tips, or mufflers, or even gas tank for that matter if they wanted to, although I understand a turbo may seem a little more take worthy.

use bolts that are tamperproof Torx Inverted Torx, or use the europee-on tripple square or 22 spline socket bolts (etc) to assemble the unit or see if it'* possible to weld a D ring to the turbo housing and chain it to the vehicle (welded of course)
good thing there'* plenty of room in the rear engine compartment of the 442...
so will ya be bringing one of these out to Bfest? we'll have to bring out the 442 if ya do...

how will someone even know that you have a turbo underneath the car? Its not visible from the street, and some sort of chain to the frame should work nicely. just weld one end of the chain to the turbo.

I've been looking around LS1 forums, and I've only been able to find 1 (yes 1) person who wrote his impressions of driving his friends STS system. All the others were written from magazines and such, who'* wording sounded a little too close to the company kool-aid for me to take as 100% truth. anyhew, this guy'* impression was that it was nice, but there was a noticable turbo lag. Which is pretty well what you'd expect, with the turbo mounted that far back.
I still think it'll be a nice power added for those who were looking for something better, but I don't know how 'streetable' the power will be - if it spools around 3500 or so. My L36 right now stays below 3500 prolly 70-80% of the time, so it'* not something I would see a benefit from.
but again, I'm glad there'* another option out there for people to consider.

Leave it to the CGPers to think up of stealing the turbo. It would be easier to steal the whole car.
What is someone going to do? Jack up the car and break out the sawz-all and make a lot of racket? Maybe bring along a portable plasma welder to cut it off?
Yeah, with the turbo in back like that it'* more accesible, but not easy to steal.
