doing that you would see the same gains as gutting the air box and dropping in a K/N panel filter. Trying to shove a cone filter is not worth it

I would look into getting a true cold air intake instead of messing around with the air box.

This is what I have in my car, it can be customized for color, and whether or not you have solid motor mounts. Looks great, install was fairly easy, worth the money.

I dont have pics but i do have a 2000 SSEi. the airbox doesn't have very pronounced baffles inside like the older model air boxes. So basically what you do is grab your dremmel and cut oout anything thats restrictive. it'll feel wrong because the "baffles" are molded all nicely into the airbox (lol) but sometimes thats what you gotta do for performance sake. Plus with the dremmel you can clean it up pretty nicely to where it looks almost if not completely factory, depending on your skill with the dremmel. I would advise that when you finish make sure there are no looses pieces of plastic or shavings left in the airbox. Your tb screen will stop the little stuff but you don't want large pieces blowin around in there.
