Default OBD....?

1. I have a 94 SE and it has an OBDII connector (16 pin) (i read somewhere that OBDII can be found on some 94 cars as an early test stage or sumthin, and i believe i read it about the bonne in particular ) Has anyone else heard this or have i been mis-informed cause id really like it to be OBDII so i can run a laptop that records stats for me in my car.

2. (this proly belongs in the other forum, but ill just tag it on) What kind of chance would i have running my stock NA series I against any other vehicle? Fearing the odds ive never taken anyone up on races....

3. (I know this has proly been asked more than 100 times) Is there any mods that i can put on my car besides ghetto intake and t-stat for at or below $100 to get my car more performance?

First, I'm not sure about the OBD II. The second question: How are you going to know without trying? Nothing is ever exact when it comes to power being planted. Some cars that are rated at 205hp will actually dyno at 220 or even 190. Read "Kill stories" and find out more about what kinds of cars yours is going up against as an average then hit the track! The third thing I think can be covered in the Tech Info, look around its full of useful info. But off hand there are a lot of things you can do for under $100. They have throttle position sensor tweaks, IAT sensor tweaks, and a host of other things you can try.

You've got the strange hybrid-transition computer that they made in 94 and 95. I believe it is actually an OBD-1 computer that requires a 12 to 16 pin adapter for use with an OBD-1 scan tool.

Actually you have to use an OBD II Scan Tool that can access an OBD I system like GM Tech II Scanners. Basically you've got an OBD I ECU with OBD II Wiring harness & Terminal Connector.

My OBD1 tool will read it if I have the OBD2 connector.

Default well

I think it might be, but i dont beleive it has as much detail as OBDII. On OBDII it could report the MAF, IAT, fuel consuption, throttle position, engine load, speed, etc. where as OBDI jsut has codes i believe

No, OBD-1 software should be able to report all of those things also. The Tech 1 has those capabilities.

Sweet, does anybody have any links to a OBD line converter to RS232 schematic (if i build my own i same money )? I had a schematic for OBDII but i dont think that OBDI is the same translation. And free (thats the catch) software? Thanks so much for your help (and putting up with my bad typing...)
