Has anyone ever made a true CAI for the Bonnie. I am thinking that we can probably made one with mandrel bent steel. There is enough space behind the headlight to go down into the fender, I think. Only problem would be getting the correct angles to do it properly.

Sounds like your definition of CAI may differ slightly from mine. The full 'true' CAI system would consist of many parts......what are you thinking? Break it down part by part for us, and let'* compare ideas.

I was thinking of putting the filter even further away from the engine to give it cooler air. In other words like camaro cai you can buy. They put the filter below the engine to draw up cooler air. Or some cars its put into the wheel well. For us we should be able to stick it into the front fender. We would only need a bypass valve on top in case we suck up water. And in front it would really give it the best ram air effect that we can get.

you mean air intake tube going down from the stock location, surrounded by a box, with the inlet coming from the fog light hole or lower air dam?

I think he'* thinking of the ram air kits they have for F-Bodies and Vettes etc.

Sort of like what we have now, but imagine the tube continuing into the headlight, and the filter sitting inside the front bumper.

I thought about routing a "ram air" tube throught the bumper cover. Just a small grill set into the top of the bumper cover, but I still can't figure out how to keep it from letting too much water in should it rain...

You'll never get enough moisture to stall the engine or cause any ill-effects. The water getting in can actually benefit you, especially if you're SC. Just don't drive through any deep puddles

i disagree on that one i had a freind who had a 95 acura gsr with the cai no by-pass vavle blew his motor 6k to replace


as far as moisture from what your saying is water in the gas tank with make the car run better??

i think what he is talking about is a FWI (fender well intake). Not the same as an all enclosed CAI. There was quite a debate on the GP forum over which was better and I think the final consenus was that they both (if done right) could get the air temp to within a few degrees of ambient but the FWI would require filter cleaner much more often.
