Turbo & Cam Question
Hey guys! So Kris & I went to a Blue'* game last night & on the way back to my place we were talking about the Bonn since that'* what we were driving home in & all. We were trying to determine what order of mods he wants to do. We know hes gonng tint the heads & tails & other minor stuff but we were talking about BIG mods. Like a custom hood, new rims, exhaust system, new paint job, supercharger, etc. So when we got to my place we started looking up videos of Bonns & Monte Carlos on youtube for fun checking out exhaust systems & what not. So we saw a video of a turbo'd monte & a cammed grand prix & I asked Kris if he wanted to consider putting a turbo & a different cam in his car & he said sure. So yeah he'* the point to this thread. Does anyone on here have any info on turbos that would fit a Bonn? Has it been done on here? & does anyone know where I could research Cams for a Bonn? Or is the cam thing not a good idea? Thanks guys!

I would say stick with the bolt on stuff, Supercharge it and stick a nice supercharger cam in it. A Turbo Bonnie will take a good bit of custom fabrication.

Sorry Trent..this is wrong... talk from experience please. where we don't have experience we should mention it upfront to the OP in order to allow others with experience to be credible instead of having to discredit each other.
A turbo in these cars is relatively easy. Easy because our W body buddies have done all the work. A Bonneville is a bigger and easier car to work with. Sure there will be some customization.....just like on a W body. Each setup is slightly different and that allows us to do cool stuff.
A plog on the front and rear (rear is for turbo) a Y pipe and a custom downpipe is about all you need to get rolling. Add a front mount air to air intercooler and you need to tune. The cam is pretty straight forward and as you research more, you'll find there are good turbo cam grinds out there. I know a couple guys that put their intercooler together cheap off Ebay and you'd never know.
Largest expenses are the Y pipe and custom downpipe from my understanding.

Everything performance wise that we have is from the W body platform.
Headers fit when we use a W body dipstick tube for the trans
Pullies and MPS was originally developed for the W body
IC'* were made for W bodies
N* TB'* etc were first done on W bodies
Our bodies are larger and have more room, which makes doing things in our cars fit better than W bodies. As an example it takes 4 hours or so to put headers in a W body. I removed my rear header and reinstalled in under an hour total. The H body is a great platform because we can use parts and stuff from so many different cars.
And while ZZFail says things fit...lol usually a ZZPart requires modification to make it fit properly.

In my opinion a supercharger is better because of the low-end boost. Helps you get going faster rather than waiting for the turbo to spin up. Just something to think about, each person has their own preference.

Yeahh I had a feeling. BTW whats the difference between a Supercharger & a Procharger exactly? & does a procharger even fit Bonns? Or is that just for 'stangs or something
