I just pulled it off and put it back on the shelf.

.....but I would still like to know, dbtk2, what the true effects are using it on the SSEi.

And that I will try to figure out for you. If you want to see results in certain driving conditions I can do those also. Let me know how you want the test done and I will see what I can do. (i.e., do you want 0-100mph runs, 20-50mph, or anything like that) If you don't care I will do just like 0-100mph runs.

0-100 mph. That sounds sweet.
I am really interested to know if it causes Knock retard and defeats the intension of increasing timing in hot weather.
It will not be something I do in cooler weather.
It would also be nice to prove how long it takes the PCM to learn to ignore the trick.
Thanks

OK. 0-100 it is! I doubt it will cause knock retard in our case as you have to remember the Mini-AFC & Rockers got rid of all of the KR on our SSEi, so it may take a bit of added timing to get the KR back, and it only adds 1-2 degrees of timing, but maybe it is enough to get KR, we will have to see. The only way I think that you could "prove" how long it takes the PCM to learn to ignore it would be to run the scan tool everyday until you see the timing isn't at maximum anymore, and I don't wanna run scans everyday, so I think we won't be figuring that out soon.

The main things I am going to be scanning are O2'*, Air-Fuel Ratio, Air Intake Temp, Timing Advance, KR, Speed, RPM'*, Throttle Position, Current Gear, and I guess I can calculate boost too, although I can't see it making a difference in that. I can't think of anything else that would make sense to scan. I can always just throw in coolant temperature and tranny temps too.

I just remembered I may not be able to scan for a week or so because the Mini-AFC on the SSEi is broken so it will be running really lean, and WOT runs and lean conditions don't mix. Unless I can borrow the one off the GTP it may be a week or so, besides the fact that I am going to want to get some time to review the data anyways. The date I am going to shoot for to have it all done is August 4, so look for data on that day, the post should be up by then. I may be able to do some of my Traction control testing also to get some more info on that, but that isn't quite as easy.

For anyone else considering this mod, if you INSIST on doing it, don't buy the crap off of ebay. Buy a resistor and do it yourself, but I'd suggest buying a scantool first. You'll need it, or you won't know what'* going on.
I agree. I'd like to buy a scan tool but I don't have a laptop to use it with. :(

I do not know how it broke. We backed out of the driveway one day and the SES light came on right away. So I ran in the garage and grabbed the autotap, and ran inside and grabbed the laptop. On the way to the resturant we were going to I scanned the code and it said something about MAF or something, and usually it is just some BS reading so I cleared it. We got back in the car to leave the resturant and started the car up, and it was idling like crap and the SES light immediately giving me the same code. The car would barely run under 1500rpms. So I checked the code, it was the same code only it had been thrown 3 times this time(in 30 seconds). So we decided it was the mini-afc. We unplugged it, started the car it ran great. Went for a drive, drove great. I was definately confused. So we had a mini-afc on the GTP that was evidently not working ever, because the 02'* weren't changing like they did on the SSEi.(we had it turned all the way down to 66% and it was still VERY rich) So we contacted Zooomer and he replaced that one no problem, but we wanted one for the mean time. I pulled the one for the SSEi off the shelf and plugged it in. Started up the GTP and it threw an SES light immediately and was running like crap. The mini-afc just started doing it one day. So, it basically throws SES lights, and makes the car run like crap. The one for the GTP never worked, so i am assuming it was defective, but as of right now we are 1 for 3 on mini-afc'* because 2 of them don't work. It isn't a big deal because Zooomer doesn't have a problem replacing them for us, but it is just kind of a hassle. The one on the GTP now, works great. I would wait until version 2.0 comes out before buying one though, it looks as though that one may be much better.

I've seen the picture of the version 2.0 and have been waiting for that one to come out. I will definitely wait now that I've heard your experiences.
