Well I got to Intense just after 7am this morning. By 8 Tim King was tearing into it, not very happy about my tight fitting TOG headers and also the fact it was a Bonneville… I stayed in the office most of the time while the trans was being pulled / rebuilt / reinstalled. It went pretty smooth it seemed like, I had to get a new front trans mount due to the fact my old one was destroyed.
Shortly after it went back together Dyno Brian & I went to his shop to dyno it. Brian had a few odds and ends to tie up before my Bonne went on the dyno. We got my car on the dyno just before 6pm EST. My first pull was in 2nd gear to 5.2k rpms and it made 253.8 whp (with no tuning, 3.4” pulley, 17 degrees of timming, less then 1 degree of KR if any I forget.)
My second and third pulls were made in 2nd then 3rd gear and I lost about 15hp each pull. My second pull had a quick blip of 4 degress of KR. My third pull had 10 degrees of KR around 6’300 rpm and it only made 223WHP. Needless to say at the end of my 3rd pull my motor started to knock . Seems I had a bearing that spun and was getting worse and worse causing the KR and major lack of power.
Intense did nothing wrong and I put no blame on them. Infact Brian Turner (aka Dyno Brian) his dad and his friend that stopped by the shop were very accommodating and super helpful. Intense is very lucky to have someone as caring, respectful, helpful as Brian. I feel I made a new friend tonight.
Right now my car sits a few miles from Brian’* shop as I tried to drive it back to Intense with no luck. The bottom end was about to blow out so I parked it in a local CVS parking lot. As of this moment I sit at my cousin’* apartment, I don’t know whats going to happen to my car, how I’m going to pay for it or what I can do. I have no funds for a new motor I actually borrowed a good deal of money from my boss to get this transmission done before that blew out.
I’ve tried to stay up beat this whole build but it’* hard. My grandfather who was pretty much my dad passed while I was putting together this L32 and that was a real kick in the pants and still is something I’m trying to cope with daily. There are some many things going through my head right now I don’t know where to start. Things will get fixed somehow, someway; but everything is a mess right now. I just finished beer #1 I think I need more.
Enjoy some pictures

I think Brian overlayed someone else dyno to compare power curves but you can see my #1 & #3 pulls. No tuning what so ever and a bearing that was spun :( if all went good I was hoping for around 300whp

I still have a roof over my head and food in my stomach. Things could be worse I'm sure but this bad enough.

Usually you spin a bearing when the clearances are too tight or you load the engine when it is still cold without a proper warm up so the journals have time to expand to proper operating tolerances.

I got the call from Ed. You know it can't be good when someone starts a conversation with "I called the person, I was sure could understand...." Very sorry to see anyone go through the same three motor swap that I did.
Ed.. I highly doubt you did anything wrong on the motor. From everything we saw you were meticulous and worked at a pace that would ensure success. Call Ed Morad in the morning and see what can be done to work it out.
Meanwhile.. I made sure and had a few drinks for you last night.
Welcome to the three motor club! Myself ~~~>and Don ~~~> welcome you with open beverages, the knowledge that GM used white primer on our cars and all the bolts come out easier the second time.
It truely sucks and I know you will keep a positive attitude and overcome the situation. (Beer helps)

I just got off the phone with Todd, I think I'm going to try to have the work done at Intense to get this fixed. I tired to call Ed Morad about a shortblock but I got his voicemail so I'll try back later. Still I'm not sure how I'm going to pay for this. I just woke up a little bit ago so I'm going to have breakfast and jump in the shower.

I'm about to go to my car and call a tow truck. It will be towed to Intense where it will eventually live again. I talked to Ed Morad about a short block & he has a low mileage one (40K) I'm going to get eventually (I hope.) Did I mention how baddas$ the whole Intense crew is?!
