torque managment= free power
*note.. this post was brought you because of the boards discription "no idea is stupid" lol
disclaimer...
*not responsable for any damages... following is done at own risk...
that shouldnt be a deturnate to trying it.. im just covering my ***
Ive been dinkin around with new GMs latly and they all (that ive tested) have this bad torque managment thing... how to remove it...
Flat road
no cars
enough room to get up to 60mph (3 times)
turn off...
turn on...
pop it into gear...
floor it to 60 -- you dont have to go quite flat foot...
stop.
park.
turn off.
******repeat 2 more times..
at the end you should have a whole lot more power... but this may cause tranny problems down the road.. because the tranny is designed to handle not a hell of a lot of power... but if you ever feel the need to go drag racing you might want to try this before you go... this will probably only work on 00-present... if that... Also the torque managment 'granny mode' will engage again after some slow starts... ect..
Just somthing for a few of the the newer bonneville owners to try.. if they are so inclind...

This is just tricking the system. But I thought that the PCM adapted to your driving style, so if you are more aggressive, it would I assume turn the torque management off, or put into a low engagement setting.

That is interesting.
In the summer on 3 consecutive red lights on the same street I'd floor it, but I noticed I was running slower every time. Seems like if I pushed my car too much it would slow down, especially to second gear. But probably just some bad KR.

yea, this is just the PMC learning that you dont want torque managment.. but this will only work on newish vehicles... I was test driving my new truck, and I noticed that it was a dog pulling into second gear, the salesman told me the little trick, it worked.. and now I can get a chirpy/squeal from 1st-2sd

doesnt it go back to the default setting after awhile? I would think it would be easier to just get a custom burnt chip, easier on your car too.

It goes back to normal after a few slow starts...
You need a custom burned PCM which is 500US-1500US depending on model year, 03-04s being most expensive...
But this is good for an average of 1second in the 1/4 mile off of stock with torque managment on...
the reason for torque managment to not blow up your tranny.. so the GM dealership would not 'fix' your pcm... because they would end up paying for a new tranny (if still under warrenty)
the only vehicles I know this works on is my new 3/4ton and one of the tahoes at work...
So I have reason to believe that other GMs do this also..

but it would probably not be recommended for those of us w/o warranties to cover our butts. Thats who I was thinking of. $500-1500US for a custom chip is ALOT cheaper than getting a new tranny, we just had it done on our 2k bonnie. Plus, with the chip you have more benefits.
