Ok. I only ask cause someone told me the oil pump mount or something to do with the oiling is different between different model cars with the same engines. He said stick with bonne, park ave, or lesabre and the oil stuff should be the same. I was weary cause when I look at interchanges it doesn't match between 2005 and the rest of the years. If that all makes sense to you.

Well I mainly want to know if the 2005 oil pump and pan is the exact same as the 00 up? The guy said that if you have to change the oiling parts that you have to be very careful and that he has seen well qualified ase mechanics screw it up and the engine dies in a couple days. If anyone has done this or knows about it, is it really a big deal or blown out of proportion? I don't want to go buy an engine then screw it up. Thanks

If your changing the crank, bearings, or pistons, then ya, there'* a lot involved and I don't recommend doing it. But to pull off the timing chain cover and swapping it out, not a big deal. Another difference can be the oil filter adapter. W body are longer then H body. But changing them is no big deal. The oil pan might be different. You would need to compare it to the pan you have now. But to swap that out is again, no big deal. When you pull your engine, you have all the donor parts you need.

That'* what he said the oil filter adapter. He made it seem like it'* rocket science to change. I'm not changing anything in the block, maybe a cam, but just using the L36 block with the L67 top. I found a 2005 lesabre L36 complete engine with 28k miles. I want to get that to start with and go from there.

You can also pull the whole timing chain cover and swap them. Changing the filter adapter is easy when not in the car. But with the engine in the car you can't get a torque wrench in there, so you have to torque by feel.
