Ok first things first.
What are you doing to your car or what have you done?
Performance mods ect.
You will find a tranny fluid change and (most important!) a filter change will help.
Also if your tranny is slipping or your torque converter is slipping it will heat up alot more than normal.
Your cooling system may also need a cleaning but this would usually show up on the regular temp as well.
Any other problems showing up? What has been the repair history?
How hot is the tranny?

Ok... No real mods as of yet. Gonna work of that soon. all i have done is a 180 thermo. I don't have exact temps for the tranny... but it'* almost burning to the touch. I did the fluid and filter about 6 months ago. I've had a weird problem that when the tranny heats up sometimes it won't go back into fourth gear at all. Just revs untill about 3000 rmp at about 60 till it engages. Works fine when the tranny is cool. Tranny has never been worked on at all.. except for the filter change and fluid change i did about 6 months ago. Don't know how to tell if the torque converter or tranny are slipping.

i drove a bonneville once that almost killed me doing stuff like that. It wouldn't shift for ****! pardon language but i was on I494 here in the twin cities and it was GOOD traffic wasn't going faster then 30MPH cause i couldn't get out of first!!!! Pulled over, and let the car cool with the hood up. I really liked that car too, an SSE with all the toys... Too bad the frame was rusting, every coolant system leaked, and the tranny practially died on me. After cooling off it worked till i got it to the owners house atleast. Worst driving experience ever! in a bonne no doubt, but it wasnt the cars fault, just the stuipid owners. I love my car though!
