I have a idea for S1 headers.
A while back when I had my Fiero, I found a site that has Series I headers custom made for the Fieros. They look to be pretty good quality, and here is my idea. The site that makes them is "West Coast Fiero" and I was thinking of Emailing them and asking for a possiblility of S1 headers for the H-bodies, Who knows? Maybe they will make a prototype set, and maybe if there is enough interest, they would make them. Would anyone be up for headers if they were to produce them? Let me know and I or someone else here on BC can drop them a email!

To be honest with you, there are three problems:
1. Our tubular manifolds flow so well, that headers would be a marginal improvement at best. These are without question the best exhaust manifolds GM ever put on a stock application. I doubt those headers would produce 10hp or 10 ft/lbs over ported stock EM'*. Even with ported heads, I'm not outflowing my manifolds. I can show the link to you if you are interested.
2. Those headers don't have anything even close to equal runner length. I don't really see anything about them that is superior to stock or ported OEM manifolds. This item is obviously complicated by the restrictions of the Fiero engine bay, but ultimately, these headers are an alternative to a swapped fiero, so they don't have to adapt the stock S1 manifolds to an application they weren't engineered for.
3. Most people that drive the Series 1 do it because they can't afford the S2. For the marginal gain, the cost will be too high for power:$ ratio.
Debate on these points is encouraged.

Hmm..... I see what you mean. So then pretty much the only reason to have them would be strictly cosmetic? I do know what you mean as I had a stock manifold in my hands a while back, and they do seem quite free flowing for a stock application. I figured that they would give some type of power gain, but most likely won't due to the good OEM manifolds. Good point.

Yeah there is no way in heck I would spend that kind of money when I can port the stock EMs and have the same power gain. I would rather shell out that kind of money for other multiple go fast goodies.

I won't say that the S1 headers are not one of the best flowing factory exhaust pieces to come along, however I won't say they are the best. That title I believe can go to the facotry headers that come on the GN. Other than the problem with them cracking (notice a trend here??) most can run with stock headers well into the 10'*, and even then when you change them it'* only a couple of tenths improvement. Most only change them because of the cracking which is an annoyance, and even some aftermarket ones crack now and then.
To answer your question however, I would agree with willwren, if they flow well don't mess with them just for looks. Cracks are easily repaired, and the money could be spent in much better ways than having a custom set made.

EM'* cannot scavenge like headers do, the gains won't be the same for this, but they're certainly not bad.
As mentioned, there are other things that would be more worth your time/money, and finding enough people in the S1 community to do a group buy/new part isn't gonna happen in the USA really. There'* a reason there'* no parts now, there'* little demand.

Jason, to be effective at scavenging, you need equal runner length. Go click on the link. I based my first post on this.
