Default Zilla'* 2007 winter work:

Starting this crap again. Just like last year, but I'll try to keep this topic a bit more organized.

HISTORY:
16-year-old blonde chick pumps 87 octane into the Zilla when my back was turned (we don't pump our own in Oregon), and I pop a piston 5 miles later at WOT:

I got my new injectors:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ghlight=piston
(32lb injectors to replace the stock 29'*)

Found my new donor motor from a really nice 95 Buick Riviera. Great oil pressure, FANTASTIC compression (175psi average, all 6 within 5 psi of each other):

This will be an all-winter job, as I swap components between the engines, and add some other goodies (more details on that later). Let'* concentrate on it step by step.

Pay close attention to the different look between the front and rear valvetrains. This is a result of more heat on the rear (crossover, firewall, less air flow, etc):

Zilla'* motor will come out when this one is ready for the Zilla cylinder heads, a new LIM, new SC (different design, and some 'extra' stuff along with it) and possibly some other goodies.

Long story short, the short block you see replaces the Zilla'*, then that motor will be rebuilt at my liesure, and set aside as a spare for either car (probably the SLE, as it continues to get abuse from 'storing' the previous year'* Zilla parts, including possibly these cylinder heads after porting, so that I can switch LIM'* between them both...maybe some other stuff......)

Two BIG changes this winter though. More details when I know more. Don't clutter the topic trying to guess, some hints have been dropped, but both will be revealed here as things get firmed up.

The Zilla will emerge in the spring with 15psi average compression improvement, 6 good pistons, larger injectors replacing the stockers that I FINALLY outflowed (with the FP jacked way up), and two other power-adding mods.

Sez one of 3 people on this Forum that knows what'* REALLY in the works.

I'm pretty stoked about this motor. The short block alone will restore lost power and solve a couple problems, as well as provide opportunities. Both short-term and long-term.

Not to mention a pile of extra parts.

That looks like a fantastic engine to start with. Congratulations! I never noticed that about the rockers. I just checked mine out in the garage and they look the same way. Is this bad?

No, that'* normal.

The Zilla didn't look that way the first time I looked a few years back, but the car was babied by the original retired owner, and I ran nothing but the best juice at short intervals.

The lifter valley on the Zilla looks FAR better than this one, but it'll clean up over time. The important thing is that this one has 6 good pistons, better compression across all 6, and great oil pressure.

Consider it my next victim.
