Default Just wondering...

I was surfing eBay this morning and came across this chip. It'* called the 'Rapid Performance Module'. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these things.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Now, obviously I don't believe it actually gives you 'up to 275 hp and 75 mpg' but I was curious if it actually helps at all. For $20 with free shipping, even if it helps just a little bit may still be worth it.

Thanks guys,
IronWolfe

What he said. These things are not worth your time. All they do is skew the data that goes to your PCM from certain sensors and can actually lead to engine damage. Do yourself a favor and stay away from any of these "power adder" chips. They're nothing but crap an will do you more harm than good.

Ya, I mean you can figure with a REAL dyno tune..aka the best of the best tune possible... you might see 10-20 hp in our cars and if tuned for mileage, maybe 2mpg...

So a $20 box with wires not even specifically made for your vehicle... not gonna work.

You were smart to ask though...look at all the suckers who bought them things! If I was about making un-honest money I would sell those things on ebay too..but I wouldnt be able to sleep at night knowing I rip people off.

The only performance chips I've ever heard of working are made my big name companies and cost more than $20. Unfotunatley those companies don't make chips for our cars because we have to re-flash our computers. I honestly don't know if you can fully tune a '92 since they have OBD1.5

You can spoof the PCM and make it do things. However, the PCM will soon learn and compensate.

With 2 leads it couldn't even do that.

WOW! That dude has 10,428 offerings at eBay for the same chips with the same ad covering every possible vehicle he could. Got to be making some serious Bank, and have quite the software to achieve that kind of ebay coverage. I"M JEALOUS! Guess he can afford and occasional Lawyer to.

all they do is overide the iat signal and makes it read at the optimum temperature to the pcm
